VAR corrupt or just scared officials ?
Before VAR some thought it was more than strange big teams getting the calls, I remember Redknapp getting fined for saying you don’t get penalties at Old Trafford.
Is it corrupt or are officials just scared of getting the calls wrong against the top 3-4-6?

Oh, Moyes may get another apology about crap VAR. decisions, maybe thay could give us a point for every VAR decision that they get wrong, that would be at least another 5 points just this season

Yes exactly, just listening to talk sport and they said Howard Webb is on the white and Jordan show tomorrow to explain why the West Ham goal should have stood, !

What annoys me most about the disallowed Ings goal is that it looks like it came off Mubama’s shoulder. If it did touch his hand, the VAR angle that they showed was not conclusive.

We probably didn’t deserve anything from the game, but a goal could have changed the whole complexion of the match.

It was always a intended as a means to help make it easier to fix games.

Unless you legitimately believe in the tooth fairy, Santa or Covid, then it's simply just a never-ending series of unfortunate coincidences...

Another shit refereeing decision. I've noticed since Mike Dean was given a supervisory role in the VAR booth a lot of decisions have gone against us. If you think back to the Feghouli decision and the Soucek sending off when he was reffing and how ridiculous both decisions were and both overturned, there seems to be a pattern here.

There's a perfect example of how refereeing and VAR should be run in Rugby. There is respect for refs and decisions are made public.

Trust the FA to Fuck it up again. It's what happens every time well meaning amateurs get to run anything.

Re: VAR corrupt or just scared officials ?
Because if you give a bad decision against Jurgen Klopp you end up on the back page of several newspapers and probably not in line for big matches for a while.

Do it against David Moyes and you’ll be a one line reference about 5 pages deep.

It’s not consciously deliberate - but every time you make a big call against City, Liverpool, Arsenal etc you risk public attention and losing out on Cup Finals etc.

It’s a lot easier to bung the VAR official, then it is to slip a brown envelope under the referee’s changing room.

Fairdo's Surf, and yes we do get cheated....but outside of the top 6 clubs and I think we get the rub of some things as we are deemed worthy to be one of the better clubs to have around consistently in the PL.

I could be wrong though!

SoH

Yes. Poor choice of a word by me. They do actually cheat, but probably don't do it deliberately.

Teams like us still end up getting cheated.

Re: VAR corrupt or just scared officials ?
They have to walk off that pitch after a game knowing they have been fair and unbiased....if they haven't it's cheating.....if it's a subconscious thing then that is cheating as well as you've allowed yourself to be unbiased.....

Re: VAR corrupt or just scared officials ?
The officials have been corrupted. Though they are not necessarily bad people and may not realise they are corrupt.

The FA, PL and Sky have combined to create the trope that success of the 'Big Four/Five/Six, especially Man United and Liverpool is crucial to the well-being of the game. This idea has permeated the whole game and the match officials sub-consciously comply with it. I don't think they actually cheat, but they are pre-programmed to be dismissive of shouts against the 'big' clubs and to give automatic credence to shouts in their favour.

As I've said before. None have the stones to go against the big clubs. Even less will openly bite the hand that feeds them. You got more chance of Moyes finding a striker.

The problem is the referees are not refereed properly. However, I would like to see the data on refs decisions and a league table of best refs

Referees should attend press conferences. They are professionals and if a manager is forced by the lawmakers to be scrutinised in front of reporters then referees should be too. It may help them in some way as well if they can at least explain their decisions because at least they could put their logic across for all to hear. If one came out and said "sorry we dropped a bollock" I am sure they would get more respect.

Two more to add to the list of past corruption:

Hans Segers v Everton
Grobbelaar v Man Utd

Perhaps we paid the Russian linesman too?

Re: VAR corrupt or just scared officials ?
Totally corrupt, a gift to the 'big six' to encourage them not to breakaway. Any doubters should ask themselves whether the clear handball at the end of the first half in the ManU match would have been given at Old Trafford for them, diabolical decision.

That Tottenham v Brighton game was very suspicious and could cost Brighton European football
A couple of obvious pens and a goal disallowed for handball when Mitoma controlled the ball with his upper arm.
The lino who gave it indicated by tapping his arm up near his shoulder above the t-shirt line .... which I understood ISNT handball

Re: VAR corrupt or just scared officials ?
I doubt that there’s corruption. It’s what I shout at some games but on reflection it can’t be corrupt.

I reckon that it’s too much power given to people that don’t know how best to use it. Add in petty officials that issue rules to refs like “It’s not handball if the hand and arms are close to the body.

That’s what happened. Lindelof moved his hand to the ball - penalty - but it was within the shape of his body which was all they were looking for as that was the edict.

Re: VAR corrupt or just scared officials ?
Of course its corrupt.

The only way there could be any way of eliminating it would be for the top leagues swapping refs each weekend. Each weekend would be random. PL refs officiate in Italy, German in the PL, Spanish in the German etc. Randomised again for the next round.
Who is reffing where shouldn't be announced.

A lot of air km's etc but at least it would make it more difficult for corruption.

Not going to happen so the corruption will continue.
